In the first part of this short series, I gave an overview of the system I use and the roles I’ve chosen for my full backs. In this post, I’ll look at why I preferred these roles over others and why I think it’s time to read the role descriptions more.
(more…)Modern Full Backs Part 1
The role of the full back has evolved significantly over the past few years. Attacking full backs have been a thing for as long as I can remember, but nowadays, they are more like wingers who defend, rather than defenders who attack. In this blog series, I’m going to talk about how I set my full backs up to be an additional attacking force without leaving us too exposed.
(more…)Generic FM20 Save Update
As a save progresses, I tend to focus on playing and not on updating people on what is happening in my save. Some time has passed since my last update so I’ll give an overview of what has happened and what the plan is going forward. (more…)
FM20: Real Betis So Far…
I’ve moved forward a bit with Betis and have just started my third season. I just wanted to do a wee update on how things are progressing with the team and building the club up by making small improvements. I also plan to take a look at my transfer business and how the team has changed since I started. (more…)
FM20: Player Recruitment
Each FM player will have their own views on recruitment, maybe they have no views on recruitment? What? No, I know, that’s crazy, everyone is passionate about signings. Nothing sends football fans into a frenzy like a transfer. Here I’m going to delve into my own transfer policy for FM20. (more…)
FM20: Staff Recruitment & Responsibilities

FM20: Real Betis
There’s been a familiar pattern emerging on my blog for the past couple of years. I start my save, I do a couple of posts and then disappear. I’ll not promise that’s going to change this time round, but I’m planning to do a bit more than in previous years. (Did I say that last year? 🏃♂️💨) (more…)
FM19: The Final Wisla Update?
After five successful seasons as manager of Wisla Krakow, the time has come to pack up and move onto the next part of my managerial career. It has been a successful period for the club as we won four Ekstraklasa titles, one SuperCup and made the group stage of the Champions League. It’s not all been rosy and I’m going to go through the highs and lows in this post and let you know where I’m off to next. (more…)
FM19: Catch Up
Since my last update, I’ve moved forward a couple of seasons. As I begin to shape the club, my focus on transfers, youth policy and style all change. In this post I aim to look at what we’ve achieved in the past two years, on the pitch and off, as well as looking at where I’m aiming to get the club now that we’ve made some progress. I said at the start of the save that I like to have a plan in place and with all of the changes, we’re getting better placed to achieve what I want. (more…)
FM19: Season 1 Progress & Planning
It’s always a bit nervy when you start a new save, will I like the club, its players, the league system? Will I do well or will I fail massively. It’s more of a risk when you write a post about a league and team you know little to nothing about and hope that it all goes well. (more…)
