After a slow start to the season, things have really picked up. There was talk of a possible sacking in the press, but I’ve kept the axe at bay and gone on a great run of form. Victories over Dnipro, Real Sociedad and Feyenoord have been the real highlights.
Against Dnipro I was still trying to get the tactics right, but we got a narrow 3-2 victory. A vital win against the team that could really rival us for second spot if I fail to win the league.
The Sociedad game was a real highlight for us and played exactly as I hoped we would. We didn’t even have a recognised first team striker in the squad. I had Younes Belhanda playing as striker due to suspension and injury. We didn’t have much of the ball or many chances, but we came away with a victory.
The 4-1 victory over Feyenoord was also a brilliant match that we deserved to win. We never really let them get at us properly. I never expected to get the win so convincingly.
The players have done well, despite injury hampering a few of them. Roman Zozulya has been superb for me, paying back that huge transfer fee. In 12 starts and two substitute appearances, he’s nabbed himself 16 goals. Roman Bezus and Andriy Yarmolenko have both got 7 assists. Andriy Bliznichenko has 5 goals despite picking up a couple of little injuries.
Defensively, we’ve tightened up a lot since the first few games and Sergiy Kryvtsov has been in excellent form. All shaping up pretty nicely.
I’ve also just realised that I’ve got Maxym Koval out on loan this season, my 1st choice GK this season is 39, so when Koval comes back, he’ll be taking over as number one.
Not got a lot of money left, so I don’t think I’ll be looking to bring anyone in during the transfer window, barring any major injuries.
I’ll look to do another save update at the winter break, which seems to last for 2months in Ukraine, must snow a lot.. haha.
